~ Minister of Justice Cornelius De Weever pays sympathy visit to incident scene ~
RETREAT ESTATE — An innocent life has been taken away today. Around midday, Sunday, January 13, 2019, an unmarked van from a funeral home came to take away the body of the two year old boy named Jeremy, who was tragically killed this morning around 10:30 am as a result of an incident whereby boys driving a car attempted to rundown other boys outside the Retreat Estate home of the Williams family. This as a result of an ongoing beef, apparently over a scooter.
Also visiting the scene of the incident was Minister of Justice, the Honourable Cornelius de Weever. Despite the GEBE black out which occurred after the incident took place – as if it was a sign the whole island would be in mourning over this latest tragedy on our public roads – news spread like wildfire on social media as information went viral on everyone’s mobile phone with a internet connection.
The Williams family was not on hand to accept the sympathy visit from the minister as the grandmother and matriarch of the family, Sharon Willams, is apparently off-island in Jamaica. The sons, including the father of the child, were in the hospital and from all accounts, the mother of the child had to be hospitalized from the shock as well.
Community activist, Koto Wilson, published a call on his Facebook page urging the family to let justice take its course and not to take the matter into their own hands. A wise call as the beef between these boys have now culminated in the tragic death of an innocent bystander whose life has been unnecessarily taken away today.
Publisher’s note: Our deepest feelings of sympathy and condolences go out to the family, friends and neighbors of the Williams family and little Jeremy (born January 14, 2016; RIP).
